Clara Mey is a Ph.D. student in the Department of Sociology and Criminal Justice at the University of Delaware. She graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts from
Baldwin Wallace University outside of Cleveland, Ohio, majoring in both sociology and philosophy. Following that, she earned her Master’s in sociology from the University of Delaware. She passed her comprehensive exams, specializing in sociological theory (paper titled: "Quieted, Silenced, and Erased: The Epistemic Marginalization of Fat Knowledge and Production of Anti-fat Bias in the Academy") and Law & Society. Clara is beginning work on her dissertation examining the higher education accommodations process and how disabled undergraduate and graduate students experience that process. Clara is on a research team with Dr. Paul Brewer, analyzing UFO/UAP, paranormal, and cryptid TikTok videos and examining the effects of short-form social media videos on belief in UFOs.
In her spare time, Clara enjoys sewing and crafting, birding, video games, and snuggling with her dog.
